The Black Tusk
The Black Tusk
Photographed in December, 2021. The mythical Black Tusk, a volcanic rock pinnacle towering in the heart of Garibaldi Provincial Park in BC. This stratovolcano can be seen from great distances in all directions, including the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort and the Sea to Sky highway. This photograph was taken during the height of an arctic outflow, bringing wind-chill temperatures of -30 celsius into the alpine regions. The dramatic east face of the Black Tusk is seen here surrounded by scoured, wind affected snow and rock. A legendary landmark living in an otherwise inhospitable winter environment.
